Trust my eye, for if I perceived in my sight
Trust my eyes, for if they had perceived
a betrayal of you, my sight would no longer remain with me.
Any betrayal of you, sight would have left me.

Love for you is a veil over my heart; with it I shield you
My love for you hides my heart; with it I protect you
from every woman whom it is pleasing to behold.
From all women at whom men freely gaze.
