ياO حَياتيmy life لَقَدindeed هَمَمتُI intended بِأَنto أَلI put on (first fragment)
يا حَياتي لَقَد هَمَمتُ بِأَن أَل
بَسَI put on (remaining fragment) ثَوبَينِtwo garments مِنfrom ثيابِthe clothes of الطَبيبِthe physician
بَسَ ثَوبَينِ مِن ثيابِ الطَبيبِ
O my life, I have indeed thought of putting on
two garments from a physician’s attire,
ثُمَّthen آتيكِI come to you (feminine) كَالمُداويlike a healer عَسىhopefully اللَGod (first fragment)
ثُمَّ آتيكِ كَالمُداوي عَسى اللَ
هُGod (remaining fragment) يُرينيكِlets me see you (feminine) مَرَّةًonce مِنfrom قَريبِclose by
هُ يُرينيكِ مَرَّةً مِن قَريبِ
then coming to you as a healer, hoping God
will let me see you once from close by.
