إِنَّindeed المَليحَةَthe beautiful woman آذَنَتgave notice بِتَرَحُّلٍof departure
فَاِقصِدso head toward سَبيلَthe way لِقائِهاmeeting her وَوَداعِهاand bidding her farewell
Indeed, the beautiful woman has announced her departure.
The beauty has announced her departure
So make your way to meet her and bid her farewell.
So take the path to bid her farewell
آنَستُI sensed مِنfrom قَلبيmy heart الغَداةَthis morning تَشَتُّتاًdisarray
فَبَكَيتُso I wept قَبلَbefore تَشَتُّتِthe scattering of اِستِجماعِهاher gathering together
This morning I sensed disarray in my heart;
In the morning my heart sensed fragmentation
So I wept before her gathering was scattered.
So I wept before its scattering could be gathered
إِنَّindeed الَّتيshe who سَكَنَتsettled in فُؤادَكَyour heart كاعِبٌa maiden with rounded breasts
حَوراءُdark-eyed, with bright whites تَستُرُcovers وَجهَهاher face بِذِراعِهاwith her arm
Indeed, she who has settled in your heart is a maiden with rounded breasts,
She who dwelled in your heart is unfaithful
Dark-eyed, she covers her face with her arm.
A nymph who veils her face with her arms
وَكَأَنَّهاand as though she were جِنِّيَّةٌa female jinn وَكَأَنَّماand as though
هُدلُdrooping clusters الكُرومof the grapevines تَلوحُgleam تَحتَbeneath قِناعِهاher veil
And she is like a female jinn, and it is as though
As if she were a jinniyah, as though
The grapevines' drooping clusters gleam beneath her veil.
The dangling grapevines waved beneath her veil
