لَئِنif indeed كانَis شَهرُthe month الصَومِof fasting لِلناسِfor people رَحمَةًa mercy

If indeed the month of fasting is a mercy to people,
Although the fasting month is a mercy for people
agonizing affliction has surely befallen me in it:
Affliction has certainly befallen me in it, causing anguish
بَلاءٌan affliction مِنَfrom الحُبِّlove الَّذيwhich لَمnot تَزَلcease بِهِthrough it
جَوامِعُthe innermost parts أَكبادِof the livers المُحِبّينَof lovers تَقرَحُgrow sore
an affliction from love, through which, unceasingly,
An affliction from love, which has continually
the innermost parts of lovers' livers grow sore.
Caused the inner hearts of lovers to ulcerate
