وَكُنّاand we were عَلىin حالٍa state سِوىother than هَذِهِthis الحالِthe state
وَكُنّا عَلى حالٍ سِوى هَذِهِ الحالِ
I remembered this month in our bygone year,

لَعَلَّperhaps الَّذيthat which أَنسىmade forget ظَلومُẒalūm مَوَدَّتيmy affection

سَيُذكِرُهاwill remind her يَوماًone day بِعَطفٍwith tenderness وَإِقبالِand warm regard
سَيُذكِرُها يَوماً بِعَطفٍ وَإِقبالِ
Perhaps whatever made my cruel beloved forget my love
