أَندُبُI mourn وَصَلَunion الحَبيبِthe beloved أَنbecause صَرَماhe severed the bond
أَندُبُ وَصَلَ الحَبيبِ أَن صَرَما
كَأَنَّماas though كانَwas وَصلُهُhis union حُلُماa dream
كَأَنَّما كانَ وَصلُهُ حُلُما
I mourn union with the beloved, now that he has severed it.
I yearn for my beloved's union though it's become forbidden
As though his union with me had been a dream.
As if his union was but a dream
فَصِرتُso I became أَرضىI accept ماwhat كُنتُI was أَسخَطُهُI resented it
فَصِرتُ أَرضى ما كُنتُ أَسخَطُهُ
حَرّانَburning with longing صَبّاًlovesick أَبكيI weep عَلَيهِfor him دَماblood
حَرّانَ صَبّاً أَبكي عَلَيهِ دَما
So I have come to accept what I once resented,
So I've come to accept what once I abhorred
Burning with longing, lovesick, I weep blood for him.
Scorched with passion, I weep tears of blood over him
