عَمّا دَهَتني بِهِ الأَيّامُ وَالزَمَنُ

Glory be to the Lord of the heights! How heedless I was

Glory be to the Lord of the Most High, I was not neglectful

Of what the days and time brought upon me!

Of what days and times have brought me

مَن لَم يَذُق فُرقَةَ الأَحبابِ ثُمَّ يَرى

مَن لَم يَذُق فُرقَةَ الأَحبابِ ثُمَّ يَرى

آثارَهُم بَعدَهُم لَم يَدرِ ما الحَزَنُ

آثارَهُم بَعدَهُم لَم يَدرِ ما الحَزَنُ

Whoever has not tasted parting from loved ones, and then seen

Whoever did not taste separation from loved ones and then see

Their traces after they were gone, does not know what sorrow is.
