وقال أيضاً:

إِنَّكِ لا تَعرِفينَ ما الهَمُّ وَال

إِنَّكِ لا تَعرِفينَ ما الهَمُّ وَال

And he also said:

You do not know what sorrow and grief are

You do not know what worry and

Nor do you know what sleeplessness is

غَمُّ وَلا تَعلَمينَ ما الأَرَقُ

غَمُّ وَلا تَعلَمينَ ما الأَرَقُ

أَنا الَّذي لا تَنامُ عَيني وَلا

أَنا الَّذي لا تَنامُ عَيني وَلا

grief are, nor do you know what sleeplessness is.

It is I whose eyes do not sleep, nor

I am the one whose eye does not sleep, nor

Do my tears dry up as long as I draw breath

تَرقا دُموعي ما دامَ بي رَمَقُ

تَرقا دُموعي ما دامَ بي رَمَقُ

أُحرَمُ مِنكُم بِما أَقولُ وَقَد

أُحرَمُ مِنكُم بِما أَقولُ وَقَد

do my tears cease so long as a breath of life remains in me.

I am deprived of you though with my words

I am denied you because of what I say, yet

Lovers gained whom they loved

نالَ بِهِ العاشِقونُ مَن عَشِقوا

نالَ بِهِ العاشِقونُ مَن عَشِقوا

صِرتُ كَأَنّي ذُبالَةٌ نُصِبَت

صِرتُ كَأَنّي ذُبالَةٌ نُصِبَت

through it lovers have won those they loved.

I have become like a lamp that gives light

I have become like a wick set in place,

While it burns itself and turns to ashes

تُضِيءُ لِلناسِ وَهيَ تَحتَرِقُ

تُضِيءُ لِلناسِ وَهيَ تَحتَرِقُ

giving light to people while it burns.
