وَيُقنِعُنيand satisfies me مِمَّنfrom the one whom أُحِبُّI love كِتابُهُhis letter
وَيَمنَعُنيهِand he withholds it from me إِنَّهُindeed he لَبَخيلُis surely miserly
And a letter from the one I love is enough for me.
The writing of the one I love convinces me
Yet he withholds it from me; he is miserly indeed.
And yet its miserliness denies me
فَلاso not أَناI مَدفوعٌdriven إِلىto العَذلِreproach فيin الهَوىlove
وَلاnor ليfor me إِلىto حُسنِgoodness of العَزاءِconsolation سَبيلُa path
So I am not driven to reproach in love,
Neither inclined am I to blame in love
Nor have I a path to fitting consolation.
Nor have I the way to seek fine solace
كَفىit is enough حَزَناًas sorrow أَنthat لاnot أُطيقَI can bear وَداعَكُمbidding you farewell

It is sorrow enough that I cannot bear bidding you farewell,
Sorrow enough that I bear not to bid you farewell
And your departure is now at hand, O Zalum.
As the time for your cruel parting is nigh
