Ah, O people of Zayd al-Lāt, what is this banner
O Zaid, by God! Why raise a banner, after the affair is lost,
Whose pole you raised after matters had turned for the worse,
To defend barefoot women, whose anklets and dress hems are torn,
لَتَحمواto protect نِساءًwomen بادِياًplainly visible ثَلَباتُهاtheir faults

To protect women whose faults are plainly visible,
Whose legs can be seen, as their robes are short?
Their necks short and their middles bulging?
