The master of the dirhams tallied them and counted them one by one,
The owner of the dirhams counted them and tallied them,
In a fortress of purses—a thousand upon a thousand.
In a fortress of pouches, a thousand upon a thousand.

And praise be to God, my counting is for my rosary;
And 'praise be to God' is what I count on my prayer beads,
From all besides it, you see me keeping my gaze lowered.
And you see me averting my gaze from all else.
