وَاستَوحشا بِفياني الغَدرِ وَاِنصَدَعا
The beauty of fidelity and the sincerity of affection have been laid low.
The goodness of loyalty and the truth of love are stricken down
And both grew desolate in the wastes of treachery and were rent apart.
And find desolation through my betrayal and perfidy.

حُزنا عَلى الحَقِّ وَالاِنصافِ مُذ رَفَعا
Both stricken by an illness beyond touch,
Both suffer from an illness beyond remedy -
In grief for truth and fairness, since both were taken away.
Grief for what is right and just since they were cast aside.
وَقَدand indeed رَأَيتI saw الشَفاhealing بِالصَبرِwith patience مُمتَزِجاmingled

وَالصَبرُ اِحمد ما اِجدى وَما نَفَعا
And I have seen healing mingled with patience,
Yet I see that healing lies in patience,
And patience is the most praiseworthy of all that helps and benefits.
And patience, best of all I try, is fruitless.

So practice patience; indeed, patience's place
So make use of patience, for patience falls
In hearts is beautiful, wherever it settles.
Gently on hearts wherever patience lands.

O lords who left me after their parting,
O masters, left behind when we were parted,
I yearn toward every caller who called out in passionate love.
Answer the call of one who loves with longing.

Distance from the mirror of your countenance has harmed me,
Remote from the radiance of your faces, I'm hurt,
And your rejection has utterly torn my hearts apart.
And your disdain has severed my heart with a cut.
