فَلا تَقُل بِغُرور فَاِنَّني الغَضَب
Indeed, the cunning, even if they show their cheerfulness—
Though the cunning may feign good cheer,
So do not speak with false confidence, for I am wrath.
Think not I'm duped, their rage I fear;
فَكَمfor how often بحلوin the sweetness of شَرابa drink سمpoison مقتلةdeadly

وَالاِسد تبسم اِذ يَبدو لَها العَطب
For how often a sweet drink holds deadly poison!
For sweetest drink may poison hide,
And lions smile when ruin appears to them.
And lions smile when victims bide.
