عيدَ الحضارة كُلِّها معدودَا

There was no day for the workers that was not

A day once was when workers went unseen,

counted a festival of civilization as a whole.

Not counted in the march of civilization.

هل قيمةُ الانسانِ إلاّ نفعهُ

هل قيمةُ الانسانِ إلاّ نفعهُ

حياً وميتاً قائداً ومقوَدا

حياً وميتاً قائداً ومقوَدا

Is a person's worth anything but their usefulness,

Is a man's worth but his productivity?

alive or dead, leading or led?

Alive or dead, leader or led astray?

إن عَاوَدَ الشمسَ الكسوفُ فإنَّهم

إن عَاوَدَ الشمسَ الكسوفُ فإنَّهم

زادوا على مَرِّ الزمانِ صُعودا

زادوا على مَرِّ الزمانِ صُعودا

If an eclipse revisits the sun, then they

If eclipsed, the sun comes out again, but they

have risen ever higher with the passage of time.

Have scaled time's bitter heights in sure ascent.

جعلوا حقوقَ الناسِ حَّق كفايةٍ

جعلوا حقوقَ الناسِ حَّق كفايةٍ

وأبوا إباءً سيداً ومسودا

وأبوا إباءً سيداً ومسودا

They made people's rights an entitlement based on competence,

The people's rights they made a charity

and firmly rejected both master and subject,

And proudly they refused, lords and lowly.

وَتَحُّررَ الأفراد نوراَ شاملاً

وَتَحُّررَ الأفراد نوراَ شاملاً

طَلقاً ومُجتازاً رُبىً وُسدوُدا

طَلقاً ومُجتازاً رُبىً وُسدوُدا

and made individual liberation an all-embracing light,

But individuals won enlightenment,

unfettered, crossing hills and barriers.

With openness, transcending bonds and barriers.
