God is melodies and lights in love
And God in peace is blossoms and dew.
And God is flowers and hymns in peace

Hail, O peace! This is its master's day.
Greetings, O peace, on this your master’s day
Let war be ashamed, and let the gray dove take pride.
Let war be ashamed and magnolias be honored

And let the world, stricken through folly, rejoice,
And let the suffering world rejoice over folly
for fragrances have risen above the din.
For the gentle breezes have risen above the clamor

I smell fragrances I cannot identify
yet inspiration gives them form for the soul.
But the soul can identify them through intuition

So where is their spiritual source that fills me?
For neither eye nor attentive listening perceives it.
For neither eye nor ear can grasp it

For there the blessed mosque is illuminated

That extols peace and did not suffer harm

Peace itself is Islam from the beginning

As the venerable forefathers saw it

And were blessed, so the dark places became radiant

In Egypt’s soil the gardens are fertile
