You console me for the holder of the two ministries,
Console me, o possessor of two ministries,
With the Shi'a's condolences for Husayn.
Console me like the Shiites for Hussein.

He used to be given the seal with both hands;
He who once stamped with both hands,
So now he gives it to two guards.
Now has guards stamp for him.

A printing press that can print two thousand,
A press that prints two thousand,
Small, about the size of an eye.

فيظفر الرىّ بمليونين
The clerk turns it twice,
The writer runs it twice around,
So Irrigation gains two million.
And gains millions for irrigation.

And you were worn out by the two,
You were exhausted by both,
Like a husband wearied by two rival wives.
Like a husband by two wives.

Parting with Dunlop is like paying off a debt;
Daneloub’s absence shut off Sidin,
So do not return to meet him after parting:
You won’t find him again between.

لا يلدغ المؤمن مرتين
A believer is not stung twice.
A believer won’t be bitten twice.
