With you, the sufferer's soul was restored.

The best of days is the day that brought you back.

In your absence, I endured what terrified me.

I wonder, sweet one, did my absence terrify you?

How often I lamented parting through the night until

The break of dawn, hoping it might bring you forth.

And I sent longing upon the east wind,

So it lamented the burning of what it had entrusted to you.

O my bliss and my torment in love,

What brought you together with the one who reproaches me for loving?

You are my soul; unjust was the slanderer who

Claimed my heart had forgotten you or cast you aside.

    آهِ لَو تَعلَمُ عِندي مَوقِعَك

    I do not know the place I hold with you;

Ah, if only you knew the place you hold with me!

They spread alarming rumors that you are ailing and in pain.

Would that I bore, besides my wasting sickness, whatever pains you.

All eyes have fallen asleep, save one,

That pours out tears and watches over your bed.
