A trace of mercy from her parents,

proof of filial goodness, and the emblem of affection.

O sky, with halos closing full circle,

O sky whose halos have spread overhead,

shower down moons of glory and happiness.

ولد الأمجاد أملاكا وساده

ولد الأمجاد أملاكا وساده

Shower Egypt and the earth’s East with

children of the glorious—kings and lords.

Kings and lords from the offspring of the illustrious.

ثم مدِّى من بنيهم سرحة

ثم مدِّى من بنيهم سرحة

تملأ النيل قراه وبلاده

تملأ النيل قراه وبلاده

Then spread from among their sons a lofty tree

Then extend from their sons a spreading tree

to fill the Nile country—its villages and lands;

That fills the Nile, its villages and its lands.

يسكن الناس إلى أفيائها

يسكن الناس إلى أفيائها

ويوافي تحتها الكل مَراده

ويوافي تحتها الكل مَراده

in whose shade the people may find rest,

People find repose in its shade,

and beneath it everyone attain their desire.

يا أمير الحلم لا تضجر فما

يا أمير الحلم لا تضجر فما

خاب من أيدّ بالصبر مُراده

خاب من أيدّ بالصبر مُراده

O prince of forbearance, do not chafe: never

O prince of forbearance, do not fret, for never

has one who buttressed his purpose with patience failed.

Has one failed who strengthened his aim with patience.

إننا نطمع من هذا الصبا

إننا نطمع من هذا الصبا

بالذرارىّ الكثير المستزاده

بالذرارىّ الكثير المستزاده

Indeed, from this youth we hope

Indeed, from this youth we hope

for descendants—many, and ever increasing.

For abundant offspring, with still more hoped for.

فهو للملك عماد وكفى

فهو للملك عماد وكفى

إن توانى النسل لم يرفع عماده

إن توانى النسل لم يرفع عماده

For he is the mainstay of kingship—and that suffices;

For it is a pillar of kingship—and that suffices.

if the line falters, its pillar cannot be raised.

If offspring is slow to come, its pillar will not be raised.

قد رضينا قسمة الله لنا

قد رضينا قسمة الله لنا

وقرنّا بالرضا شكر الإرادة

وقرنّا بالرضا شكر الإرادة

We have accepted the share God allotted us,

We have accepted God's allotted share for us,

and joined to contentment our gratitude for His will.

And coupled contentment with gratitude for His will.
