أَمَيدانَO square الوِفاقِconcord وَكُنتَand you were تُدعىcalled
أَمَيدانَ الوِفاقِ وَكُنتَ تُدعى
بِمَيدانِas the square of العَداوَةِenmity وَالشِقاقِand discord
بِمَيدانِ العَداوَةِ وَالشِقاقِ
O Square of Concord, though you were once called
The Square of Enmity and Discord,
أَتَدريdo you know أَيُّwhat ذَنبٍsin أَنتَyou جانٍguilty of
أَتَدري أَيُّ ذَنبٍ أَنتَ جانٍ
وَأَيُّand what دَمٍblood ذَهَبتَyou carried away بِهِwith it مُراقِshed
وَأَيُّ دَمٍ ذَهَبتَ بِهِ مُراقِ
Do you know what sin you have committed,
And what blood you have caused to be shed?
هَوىfell فيكَwithin you السَريرُthe throne وَمَنand he who عَلَيهِupon it
هَوى فيكَ السَريرُ وَمَن عَلَيهِ
وَماتَand died الثائِرونَthe revolutionaries وَأَنتَwhile you باقِremaining
وَماتَ الثائِرونَ وَأَنتَ باقِ
Within you fell the throne and he who sat upon it;
The revolutionaries died, while you remain.
أَصابواthey hit their mark وَاِستَراحَand found rest لُويسُLouis مِنهُمfrom them
أَصابوا وَاِستَراحَ لُويسُ مِنهُم
لِذاfor this reason سُمّيتَyou were named مَيدانَthe square of الوِفاقِconcord
لِذا سُمّيتَ مَيدانَ الوِفاقِ
They hit their mark, and Louis found rest from them;
Thus you were named the Square of Concord.
