ما باتَ يُثني عَلى عَلياكَ إِنسانُ

ما باتَ يُثني عَلى عَلياكَ إِنسانُ

إِلّا وَأَنتَ لِعَينِ الدَهرِ إِنسانُ

إِلّا وَأَنتَ لِعَينِ الدَهرِ إِنسانُ

No human has ever spent the night praising your eminence

No one praises your highness unless

without your being the pupil of Time's eye.

To the eyes of time itself you are the paragon of man

وَما تَهَلَّلتَ إِذ وافاكَ ذو أَمَلٍ

وَما تَهَلَّلتَ إِذ وافاكَ ذو أَمَلٍ

إِلّا وَأَدهَشَهُ حُسنٌ وَإِحسانُ

إِلّا وَأَدهَشَهُ حُسنٌ وَإِحسانُ

Nor have you ever beamed when a hopeful seeker came to you

Whenever one hopeful came your way

without beauty and benevolence leaving him amazed.

Dazzled by your grace and generosity

لِلَّهِ ساحَتُكَ المَسعودُ قاصِدُها

لِلَّهِ ساحَتُكَ المَسعودُ قاصِدُها

فَإِنَّما ظِلُّها أَمنٌ وَإيمانُ

فَإِنَّما ظِلُّها أَمنٌ وَإيمانُ

God be praised for your court—fortunate is whoever seeks it!

Blessed by God is your realm sought by all

For its shade is nothing but security and faith.

For in its shade lie safety and faith

لَئِن تَباهى بِكَ الدينُ الحَنيفُ لَكَم

لَئِن تَباهى بِكَ الدينُ الحَنيفُ لَكَم

تَقَوَّمَت بِكَ لِلإِسلامِ أَركانُ

تَقَوَّمَت بِكَ لِلإِسلامِ أَركانُ

If indeed the upright faith takes pride in you, how many

If the true religion boasts of you, how much

pillars of Islam have been made firm through you!

Through you its pillars for Islam stand strong

تُراقِبُ اللَهَ في مُلكٍ تُدَبِّرُهُ

تُراقِبُ اللَهَ في مُلكٍ تُدَبِّرُهُ

فَأَنتَ في العَدلِ وَالتَقوى سُلَيمانُ

فَأَنتَ في العَدلِ وَالتَقوى سُلَيمانُ

You are mindful of God in the kingdom you govern;

Monitoring God in the realm you steer

so in justice and piety you are Solomon.

In justice and piety a Solomon you are

أَنجى لَكَ اللَهُ أَنجالاً يُهَيِّئُهُم

أَنجى لَكَ اللَهُ أَنجالاً يُهَيِّئُهُم

لِرِفعَةِ المُلكِ إِقبالٌ وَعِرفانُ

لِرِفعَةِ المُلكِ إِقبالٌ وَعِرفانُ

God has preserved sons for you, who are being prepared

May God grant you upright sons

by good fortune and knowledge to exalt the kingdom.

To uphold the glory of this reign

أَعِزَّةٌ أَينَما حَلَّت رَكائِبُهُم

أَعِزَّةٌ أَينَما حَلَّت رَكائِبُهُم

لَهُم مَكانٌ كَما شاؤوا وَإِمكانُ

لَهُم مَكانٌ كَما شاؤوا وَإِمكانُ

Honored wherever their mounts alight,

Wherever they traverse nobly

they have the standing they desire, and the means.

They own the place as they desire, they can

لَم تَثنِهِم عَن طِلابِ العِلمِ في صِغَرٍ

لَم تَثنِهِم عَن طِلابِ العِلمِ في صِغَرٍ

في عِزِّ مُلكِكَ أَوطارٌ وَأَوطانُ

في عِزِّ مُلكِكَ أَوطارٌ وَأَوطانُ

They were not deterred from seeking knowledge in youth

Never too young to seek knowledge

by desires or homelands amid your kingdom's splendor.

In your glorious rule neighborhoods and homelands abound

تَأبى السَعادَةُ إِلّا أَن تُسايِرَهُم

تَأبى السَعادَةُ إِلّا أَن تُسايِرَهُم

لِأَنَّهُم لِمُلوكِ الأَرضِ ضيفانُ

لِأَنَّهُم لِمُلوكِ الأَرضِ ضيفانُ

Good fortune insists on keeping them company,

Only with them happiness comes along

for they are guests of the kings of the earth.

For to kings of earth they are the guests

نَجلانِ قَد بَلَغا في المَجدِ ما بَلَغا

نَجلانِ قَد بَلَغا في المَجدِ ما بَلَغا

مُعَظَّمٌ لَهُما بَينَ الوَرى شانُ

مُعَظَّمٌ لَهُما بَينَ الوَرى شانُ

Two sons have reached such heights of glory;

Two sons who have reached glory so high

exalted is their standing among humankind.

Among all people their stature is hailed

يَكفيهِما في سَبيلِ الفَخرِ أَن شَهدَت

يَكفيهِما في سَبيلِ الفَخرِ أَن شَهدَت

بِفَضلِ سَبقِهِما روسٌ وَأَلمانُ

بِفَضلِ سَبقِهِما روسٌ وَأَلمانُ

On the path to glory, it suffices them that witness was borne

It suffices them in pride that

to their distinguished preeminence by Russians and Germans.

By their early merit Russians and Germans told

هُما هُما تَعرِفُ العَلياءُ قَدرَهُما

هُما هُما تَعرِفُ العَلياءُ قَدرَهُما

كِلاهُما كَلِفٌ بِالمَجدِ يَقظانُ

كِلاهُما كَلِفٌ بِالمَجدِ يَقظانُ

They are who they are; eminence knows their worth.

They, they are the ones the sublime know by worth

Each is enamored of glory and watchful.

Both bound to glory and awake

ما الفَرقَدانِ إِذا يَوماً هُما طَلَعا

ما الفَرقَدانِ إِذا يَوماً هُما طَلَعا

في مَوكِبٍ بِهِما يَزهو وَيَزدانُ

في مَوكِبٍ بِهِما يَزهو وَيَزدانُ

What are the Farqadan stars, when one day these two rise

No difference when one day they emerge

in a procession that glories in them and is adorned?

In a parade taking pride and splendor

يا كافِيَ الناسِ بَعدَ اللَهِ أَمرَهُمُ

يا كافِيَ الناسِ بَعدَ اللَهِ أَمرَهُمُ

النَصرُ إِلّا عَلى أَيديكَ خِذلانُ

النَصرُ إِلّا عَلى أَيديكَ خِذلانُ

O you who, after God, take care of the people's affairs,

Oh you who suffice men after God in their affairs

victory, save at your hands, is defeat.

No triumph except by your hands defeat comes

يا مُنيلَ المَعالي وَالنَدى كَرَماً

يا مُنيلَ المَعالي وَالنَدى كَرَماً

الرِبحُ مِن عَبرِ هَذا البابِ خُسرانُ

الرِبحُ مِن عَبرِ هَذا البابِ خُسرانُ

O you who generously bestow high honors and bounty,

Oh you who grants glory and dew generously

gain from beyond this gate is loss.

Profit from the lesson of this door is loss

مَولايَ هَل لِفَتى بِالبابِ مَعذِرَةٌ

مَولايَ هَل لِفَتى بِالبابِ مَعذِرَةٌ

فَعَقلُهُ في جَلالِ المُلكِ حَيرانُ

فَعَقلُهُ في جَلالِ المُلكِ حَيرانُ

My lord, is there an excuse for a youth at the gate?

My master does one at the door deserve excuse?

For his mind is bewildered by the majesty of kingship.

His mind bewildered by majestic rule

سَعى عَلى قَدَمِ الإِخلاصِ مُلتَمِساً

سَعى عَلى قَدَمِ الإِخلاصِ مُلتَمِساً

رِضاكَ فَهوَ عَلى الإِقبالِ عُنوانُ

رِضاكَ فَهوَ عَلى الإِقبالِ عُنوانُ

He has hastened on sincerity's foot, seeking

Striving with utmost loyalty to gain

your favor, for it is a sign of good fortune.

Your content, for acceptance let me hope

أَرى جَنابَكَ رَوضاً لِلنَدى نَضِراً

أَرى جَنابَكَ رَوضاً لِلنَدى نَضِراً

لِأَنَّ غُصنَ رَجائي فيهِ رَيّانُ

لِأَنَّ غُصنَ رَجائي فيهِ رَيّانُ

I see your court as a verdant garden of bounty,

I see your garden bloom, place of dew

for the branch of my hope is well-watered within it.

For my tree of hope in it water flows

لا زالَ مُلكُكَ بِالأَنجالِ مُبتَهِجاً

لا زالَ مُلكُكَ بِالأَنجالِ مُبتَهِجاً

ما باتَ يُثني عَلى عَلياكَ إِنسانُ

ما باتَ يُثني عَلى عَلياكَ إِنسانُ

May your kingdom remain gladdened by your sons,

Forever will your rule in the sons delight

as long as a human spends the night praising your eminence.

No one praises your highness unless
