دعيني أُقَطِّع عليه الحذاء

وأجز الوقاح على ذنبه

Let me wear out the shoe on him,

Let me tear his shoes apart

And punish the shameless fellow for his offense.

And punish the shameless for his crime

دعينيَ أضربه حتى يفيق

دعينيَ أضربه حتى يفيق

فلا بدّ زينب من ضربه

فلا بدّ زينب من ضربه

Let me beat him until he comes to his senses;

Let me beat him until he awakes

So, Zaynab, there is no escape from beating him.

For Zainab must beat him

قد جاء هيا نتقى

قد جاء هيا نتقى

جنونه وهوسه

جنونه وهوسه

He has come! Come, let us guard against

He came, let's avoid

His madness and his frenzy.

ففي يمينه العصا

وفي الشمال المكنسه

For in his right hand is the stick,

And in his left hand, the broom.
