I have a grandmother who is kind to me,
I have a grandmother who has mercy on me
more tender toward me than my father.
She leaned over me more than my father did

تَذهَبُ فيهِ مَذهَبي
And whatever brings me joy,
And everything that delighted me
she shares my view of it.
Would be my way

With the stride of a disciplinarian

Other than my grandmother as an escape

And she said to my father
in a reproachful tone:
In a reprimanding tone
