A beloved whom I do not forget;
A lover I can't forget
I made my heart his dwelling.
Made my heart his dwelling place

وفيand in الأحلامdreams لقياهmeeting him
He went far away from me and left me,
He distanced himself from me and left
And in dreams I meet him.
Yet in dreams I'd see his face
وفيand in اليقظةwaking life أشكالٌforms
منof النائيthe faraway one وأشباهand likenesses
And in waking life, there are forms
In wakefulness, forms arise
And likenesses of the one far away,
Of the distant one, resembling his grace

That remind me of the one who departed,
Reminding me of him who turned away
And his memory fills my soul.
With memories my soul they embrace

And in the garden there are blossoms
In the garden, flowers bloom

That mimic him in shape and trace

For in the pools is his radiance,
In the roses, his charm does bloom
And in the flowers, his fragrance.
In the flowers, his visage I trace
وفيand in البلبلthe nightingale إذwhen يشدوit sings

And in the nightingale, when it sings,
When the nightingale sings his song
Pouring out its lament to its beloved,
His longing plaintively finds its place

Is tenderness, one of his natural traits,
Affection in the bird's nature
And kindness, one of his innate qualities.
And kindness from his manners I trace

So, O you who have vanished from my sight,
Oh you who from my eyes went far
And whose appearance is the very vision of beauty,
Your beauty was their gazing place
