O Messenger of God, I yearn, and my heart

Is swept away by love of visiting you.

And from long separation and my intense longing,

My heart can find no rest.

And sleeplessness has allied itself with me, and sleep eludes me,

And longing has grown, and endurance has run out.

When shall I be blessed with your light, O my beloved,

And find enjoyment and visitation sweet,

And kiss the dust of the land where you are,

And find dwelling near you in your Taybah sweet,

And stretch out the hand of my need in your sanctuary,

So it returns filled with pure gold from you,

And gain every honor in your sanctuary,

And bounty that no poverty can dislodge,

And return healed, with eyes at peace,

And with a light no moonless darkness can overtake?

O Messenger of God, my children and my family

Have sought refuge through your standing, O beloved,

And my kinsman and loved ones, all together,

And my in-laws and my venerable elders.

So turn an attentive eye toward us,

For upon you, without doubt, all things turn.

Yours is vast eminence; thus all eminence

Belonging to others is surely borrowed from you.

Accept from me, O Messenger of God,

A greeting in which its giver takes pride.

For you are the best of those who have accepted gifts,

And the most exalted of those through whom missteps are pardoned.

May God bless you as long as there appear

The stars of night, or the day dawns.
