والوجدand passion كادnearly منfrom الأشواقthe longings يبرينيwears me away
My longings for Taybah overwhelm me.
I yearn for Medina though passions torment me,
And passion has nearly worn me away with longing.
Love's agony has brought me near to ruin.
وقلةand lack of المالmoney والأسقامand ailments تقعدنيhold me back
والحبand love ينشرنيunfolds me طوراat times ويطوينيand folds me up
And lack of money and ailments hold me back.
Lack of wealth and chronic illness hinder me,
And love unfolds me at times and folds me up.
While love tosses me about and twists me too.
منwho ليfor me بقبرwith the tomb of رسولthe Messenger of اللهGod أنظرهI behold it
وأطلبand I seek العفوpardon فيin الدنياthis world وفيand in الدينfaith
Who will let me behold the tomb of God's Messenger,
If only I could visit the Prophet's tomb,
And seek pardon in this world and in matters of faith?
And beg for mercy in this life and the next.
فهذهso this حاجتيmy need بالشوقwith longing أرسلهاI send it
وهذهand this بغيتيmy desire منfrom قبلbefore تكوينيmy creation
So this is my need; I send it forth with longing.
This wish my longing prompts me to declare,
And this has been my desire since before my creation.
A want I've had since I was first created.

So look upon me, O Messenger of God, in my sickness.
Look on me, O Messenger, in my illness,
For your exalted gaze will heal me.
Your noble gaze alone has power to heal me.

And extend a hand toward me, drawing me with kindness
Stretch out your hand with kindness to draw me near,
To your sanctuary, for nearness to you gives me life.
So closeness to your refuge can revive me.

And look after my family and my offspring, together with my kin,
Look after my family, my sons and kin,
And my brothers, and all companions in the faith.
My brothers, and companions true in faith.

That, then, is my wish; I seek it through your kindness.
This is my hope, which gently I implore-
So hear my call, for this much is enough for me.
Hear my call, for this much will suffice me.

You are the beloved whose intercession,
On the Day of Resurrection, the day of gathering and judgment.
All hope to gain on Resurrection Day.

May the God of the Throne bless you as long as they coo—
As long as ink flows on the leaves of plants,
The sanctuary's gray doves above the branches of the gardens.
God send blessings and peace eternally.
