رب إنى أطعت غيّ التصابى

رب إنى أطعت غيّ التصابى

فامتطيت الهوى وسفن المعاصي

فامتطيت الهوى وسفن المعاصي

Lord, I yielded to the folly of playing at youth,

My Lord, I have disobeyed without restraint,

So I rode desire and the ships of sin.

And rode the waves of sin and transgression.

ومنانى الشيطان باللهو حتى

ومنانى الشيطان باللهو حتى

كنت باللهو في أشد اقتناص

كنت باللهو في أشد اقتناص

And Satan lured me with promises of diversion, until

Satan seduced me with entertainment,

I was most tightly ensnared by diversion.

Until I was immersed in frivolity.

رب مالي سوى النبي شفيع

رب مالي سوى النبي شفيع

يوم بسط القضا وأخذ النواصي

يوم بسط القضا وأخذ النواصي

Lord, I have no intercessor but the Prophet,

My Lord, the Prophet is my only intercessor

On the day judgment is unfolded and forelocks are seized.

On the day when judgment is passed and deeds recalled.

فبحق النبي أرجوك عفوا

فبحق النبي أرجوك عفوا

وابتعادا عن القضا بالقصاص

وابتعادا عن القضا بالقصاص

So, for the Prophet's sake, I beseech You for pardon,

So for the Prophet's sake I hope for pardon

And to be kept far from a sentence of retribution.

And to be spared from retaliation and punishment.

أنا عبد وأنت مولى كريم

أنا عبد وأنت مولى كريم

جئت أرجو الرضا وبعد انتقاصي

جئت أرجو الرضا وبعد انتقاصي

I am a servant, and You are a generous Master.

I am a servant and You are a Gracious Master.

I have come hoping for Your acceptance and freedom from abasement.

I come seeking Your good pleasure after my shortcomings.

رب إني موحد ومقر

رب إني موحد ومقر

من فؤادي بكلمة الإخلاص

من فؤادي بكلمة الإخلاص

Lord, I indeed affirm Your oneness and profess

My Lord, I profess Your Oneness

From my heart the declaration of pure faith.

With all my heart in utter sincerity.

ومحب للمصطفى وبنيه

ومحب للمصطفى وبنيه

فاجعل الحب شافعا في خلاصي

فاجعل الحب شافعا في خلاصي

And I love the Chosen One and his sons,

And I love the Chosen One and his family,

So make love an intercessor for my deliverance.

So let this love intercede for my deliverance.
