وأيْنَعَand ripened فيin أحداقناour pupils الحُبُّlove والشِّعْرُand poetry
We suckled undiluted love, and our souls grew glad.
We drank passion pure, so our souls were delighted,
And love and poetry ripened in our eyes.
And love and poetry bloomed in our eyes.

Our lips dance, drunk on wishes.
Our lips danced with hopes and wishes,
And a pristine garden, its dew smiling, brings us together.
And we were brought together in a meadow, smiling with dew in the morning.
وإنْand if أسْعَفَتْoffered help بالوصْلِwith union فيin العُمْرِlife لحظةٌa moment

And if a moment in life grants us union,
If a moment of union is granted in this life,
Cheerfulness and joy stretch out their arms.
It will extend its arms in gladness and good news.
وليسَand is not خصيميmy rival الليلَnight فيin الحُبِّlove إنّماrather
إذاwhen زارvisited عيْنيmy eyes الكَرَىslumber أذَّنَcalled to prayer الفجْرُdawn
And night is not my rival in love; rather,
My enemy in love is not the night, but
When slumber visits my eyes, dawn sounds the call to prayer.
When the hated one visits my eyes, dawn breaks.
