ياO مُنْيةَcherished wish العمْرِlife عنfrom درْبِpath الهَوىpassion ابتعديkeep away
يا مُنْيةَ العمْرِ عن درْبِ الهَوى ابتعدي
ولمْلميand gather ثَمَرfruit الأوراقِthe pages واجتهديand strive
ولمْلمي ثَمَر الأوراقِ واجتهدي
O longing of a lifetime, keep far from the path of passion.
O life's cherished wish, keep away from the path of passion.
Gather the fruit of the leaves, and strive with all your might.
And gather the fruit of the pages, and strive.
وأسْرِجيand saddle العَزْمَresolve عنواناًas an emblem لمكرُمةٍfor a noble deed
وأسْرِجي العَزْمَ عنواناً لمكرُمةٍ
وإنْand if تَجَهَّمَscowls وجهُface النَّهْرِthe river لاdo not ترِديapproach the water
وإنْ تَجَهَّمَ وجهُ النَّهْرِ لا ترِدي
Saddle your resolve, making it the emblem of noble deeds.
And saddle resolve as an emblem for a noble deed.
And should the river’s face grow sullen, do not go down to drink.
And if the river's face scowls, do not approach its waters.
وقاوميand resist قَسْوةَharshness الإعصارthe hurricane فيin دَعةٍtranquility
وقاومي قَسْوةَ الإعصار في دَعةٍ
فالصَّبْرُfor patience حينwhen أرومُI seek النَّصْرِvictory منamong عُدديmy resources
فالصَّبْرُ حين أرومُ النَّصْرِ من عُددي
With calm composure, withstand the hurricane’s violence.
And calmly resist the hurricane's harshness.
For patience, when I seek victory, is among my provisions.

صونيguard عفافَكِyour chastity بالإيمانِwith faith وانتقبيand wear a face veil
صوني عفافَكِ بالإيمانِ وانتقبي
تطْهُرْwill become pure شغافكyour heart's depths منof كَيْدٍguile ومنand of كَمَدِgrief
تطْهُرْ شغافك من كَيْدٍ ومن كَمَدِ
Guard your chastity with faith, and veil yourself,
Guard your chastity with faith, and wear a face veil.
that your heart’s core may be cleansed of guile and grief.
