ثنائي جلَّ عن حصرِ

For him of lofty station and rank,

For the one of high status and worth

my praise is beyond all measure.

My praise is beyond measure

غزيرُ الفضلِ إن أسدى

غزيرُ الفضلِ إن أسدى

محلُّ الحمدِ والشُّكرِ

محلُّ الحمدِ والشُّكرِ

Abundant in bounty when he gives,

Generous in merit if he grants favor

the recipient of praise and gratitude.

رضاهُ منيتي قصدي

رضاهُ منيتي قصدي

ثناهُ عزَّتي فخري

ثناهُ عزَّتي فخري

His approval is my wish, my aim;

His approval is my wish and goal

praising him is my honor, my pride.

His praise is my honor and pride

بهِ أقسمتُ لم أبرَح

بهِ أقسمتُ لم أبرَح

نَزينُ النظمَ بالنثرِ

نَزينُ النظمَ بالنثرِ

By him I swore; I have not ceased—

By him I swear I shall not stop

حلا لي مدحثهُ حتذى

أتيتُ فيه بالسحرِ

Praising him grew sweet to me, until [reading uncertain]

His praise is sweet nectar to me

I brought forth magic in it.

In it I have achieved magic

له من عبدِهِ أوفى

له من عبدِهِ أوفى

مديحٍ مُدَّةَ الدهرِ

مديحٍ مُدَّةَ الدهرِ

For him, from his servant, the fullest

For him from his servant most loyal

praise, for as long as time endures.

Is praise enduring ages

أُرجِّي بالرِّضى قُرباً

أُرجِّي بالرِّضى قُرباً

لعالي الجاه والقدرِ

لعالي الجاه والقدرِ

I hope, through approval, for nearness

I hope for nearness through his approval

to him of lofty station and rank.
