The Khedive's retinue arrived, and Egypt grew resplendent.
The Khedive's travelers have arrived, and Egypt rejoices,
And the radiant stars found comfort in his light.
Its stars delighted by his radiance.

And indeed her adornment soared at the festival of his return,
With his return, her beauty is complete,
As though the sun and full moon were part of her radiance.
As if the sun and moon were part of his splendor.

And this is no wonder, since she was honored
This is no surprise, for with his nobility
By him whose light made time rejoice.
She who rejoices in his eternal light.

And long had Egypt lamented, while she bore
Long has Egypt lamented, burning with longing for him,
Heat in her air from the fire of longing for him.
The fire of yearning flaring in her air.

But his honoring visit brought her joy
But his arrival has brought her joy,
That dispelled a longing whose pangs the port had lamented.
Dispelling the longing that tormented her being.

And Egypt is envied by every town in the land
All the lands congratulate Egypt
For his residence there, yet gratitude is her way.
For hosting him, though it is her nature to be thankful.
لِأَنَّهُbecause he is الشَمسthe sun إِذsince عَمَتspread everywhere فَضائلهhis virtues
لِأَنَّهُ الشَمس إِذ عَمَت فَضائله
فَلَيسَso is not يَحرمdeprived مِنof أَنوارِهِhis lights القطرthe land
فَلَيسَ يَحرم مِن أَنوارِهِ القطر
For he is the sun, as his virtues have spread everywhere,
For he is the sun whose virtues are universal,
So the land is not deprived of his light.
No land is deprived of his rays.

How gracious and noble he is! He tends his subjects
With him, God has granted and honored us,
With every measure that brings support and victory.
Supporting his people in all affairs with success and victory.

His virtues in the universe are exalted beyond compare,
His virtues in the universe are without equal,
So neither verse nor prose can encompass them.
No poetry or prose can encompass them.

And how can his eulogist capture this excellence?
How can one who praises him contain such merit,
And can the waters of seas ever be fully reckoned?
Can the water of seas be confined?

And this age reaches fulfillment in his shade.

And the return is more praiseworthy, and the glad tidings are dated:
With Ahmad’s return good news is recorded,
The Khedive returned, and companionship grew sweet, O Egypt.
The Khedive is back, rejoice O Egypt!
