O community of Islam, glad tidings have dawned for you,

with relics of him to whom glad tidings belong in all the worlds.

This is none other than a hair of the Prophet,

whose rank the All-Merciful has exalted in His kingdom.

A gift the sovereign presented to Ahmad,

the master renowned in the great courtyard.

It has not come to us as a gift

proportionate to its giver's rank, for its worth is immense.

For its owner—all kings humbled themselves

before him, and all became obedient to his command.

    لِذَلِكَ صارَت مِن فَضائله ذُخرا

    And the honor of the one followed belongs only to a follower;

thus, through his virtues, it became a treasure.

    وَهذا سمت آلاء مَعروفه الغرا

    And every great man has come to give gifts to his equal;

and this one's radiant bounties of kindness have risen high.

It dwelt for a time in the seat of the caliphate,

and came to you as a reminder, to stir your remembrance.

It recalls to you the traces of your Prophet's excellence—

a Prophet whose rank rose high on the night of the Night Journey.

And his relics have pointed to the source of his excellence,

yet reverence for God is the greatest of his legacies.

And our duty is only to follow the commands

of the greatest messenger, who established an order for us.

And we rise only by safeguarding our religion,

through what God ordained for it in the Book's original text.

And only through unity can we behold the heights,

for discord among people necessarily brings harm.

So be, all of you, with your hearts united,

as one person in your cause, and do not seek wrongdoing.

For in religion there is always deliverance from evil,

and those who were neglectful may tomorrow be denied a reward.

For you, God established a faith upheld

by the greatest messengers, who made clear good and evil.

And that support has been inherited by every guardian

of the faith, among those who enforce prohibitions [reading uncertain] and commands.

So we ask the Lord of the Throne to place piety

before us, that through piety we may efface sin and its burden.

And I end my words with blessings and greetings of peace

upon the best of creation, then ask to be excused.
