My longing for you is great; it cannot be contained
My longing for you is so much, beyond measure
By anyone who writes on sheets of paper with a pen.
For one who used to write with pen on paper
وَالنَومand sleep فارَقَleft عَينيmy eye بَعدَafter فرقتكمparting from you
وَالودand affection باقٍremaining عَلىas ماwhat كانَit was مِنsince قدمlong ago
And sleep has left my eye since parting from you.
Sleep has left my eyes since we parted
And affection remains as it was of old.
While love remains as it was of old
وَالقَلبand the heart فيin لَوعةanguish مِماfrom what أَكابدهI endure
وَالمَجدand glory فيin مُهجَتيmy heart كَالنارlike fire فيupon علمa mountain
And the heart is in anguish from what I endure.
My heart suffers from what I endure
And glory in my heart is like fire upon a mountain.
And glory burns in my mind like fire on a banner
