O House of Osman, we do not know whether to apologize

Excuses are a plague that clings to us,
Indeed, our grounds for excuse are plague that clings to us,
a cholera that subsides awhile, then spreads.
And cholera that subsides awhile, then spreads.

against everything, so it leaves nothing and spares nothing.
For everything: it spares nothing and leaves nothing.

of what it used to bring—only the anguish they dreaded.
For Egypt's sons, save the anguish they feared.
