Is what you do a form of honor, or

a form of torture and humiliation?

النار للأجساد خير مطهر

Fire would be the best purifier for bodies,

if bodies had any feeling.

لو تعقلون أعدتموها في الثرى

If you used reason, you would return them to the soil;

and the earth is the truest origin and destination.

إن البلى لمآلها ولو اَنَّها

في أبحر وكواكب وقصور

Decay is surely their fate, even if they are

in seas, on planets, and in palaces.

وتساءلوا أين النفوس فإنها

لأحق بالتفكير والتدبير

And ask yourselves where the souls are, for they

are more deserving of reflection and careful planning.
