بدخانwith tobacco أوor قهوةcoffee أوor راحِwine
بدخان أو قهوة أو راحِ
I live simply; I have not burdened my days
with tobacco, coffee, or wine.
ولضيفيand to my guest عليَّI owe ماwhat طابis pleasing منof لطbeginning of “kindness”
ولضيفي عليَّ ما طاب من لط
فٍend of “kindness” وجدٍّand seriousness ونجدةand help ومزاحِand jest
فٍ وجدٍّ ونجدة ومزاحِ
And I owe my guest the best of kind
ness, seriousness, help, and jest,
وسماحand generosity مماfrom what لديَّI have منof الماbeginning of “wealth”
وسماح مما لديَّ من الما
لend of “wealth” ولوeven if ردنيit leaves me فقيراًpoor سماحيmy generosity
ل ولو ردني فقيراً سماحي
and generosity with whatever wealth I have,
even if my generosity leaves me poor.
