لأنهم أوفى بني الإنسانِ

We accept no reproach concerning Japan,

We do not blame Japan

for they are the most loyal of humankind.

فما ودادُنا لهم تصنُّعُ

لكنه من طبعنا تطوُّعُ

Our affection for them is therefore no pretense,

but is freely given, springing from our nature.

But comes naturally from our disposition

إن قلدونا أتقنوا التقليدا

وأحسنوا القديم والجديدا

وأحسنوا القديم والجديدا

If they imitate us, they perfect the imitation

If they imitated us, they perfected imitation

and master both the old and the new.

And improved both old and new
