Peace upon the two parties as they unite!

Peace upon the two gatherings as they meet!

وطوبى لأبطال الحمى يدركونه

وطوبى لأبطال الحمى يدركونه

بكل يد ميمونة ولسان

بكل يد ميمونة ولسان

And blessings on the homeland's champions, who attain it

With every blessed hand and tongue,

سراعاً إلى الدار التي عاهدتهمُ

سراعاً إلى الدار التي عاهدتهمُ

على خير ميعاد وخير أوان

على خير ميعاد وخير أوان

Hastening to the house that made a covenant with them

For the best of meetings and the best of times.

يعدون للعقبى التي في حفاظهم

يعدون للعقبى التي في حفاظهم

أبر مكان في أحب زمان

أبر مكان في أحب زمان

They prepare, for the future entrusted to their care,

The noblest place at the most cherished time.

ويبنون للشعب الكريم اتحاده

ويبنون للشعب الكريم اتحاده

وسلطانه في راحة وأمان

وسلطانه في راحة وأمان

And they build unity for the noble people,

And their sovereignty, in comfort and security.

ويعطونه شورى الثقات وحكمهم

ويعطونه شورى الثقات وحكمهم

ضماناً على الأيام أي ضمان

ضماناً على الأيام أي ضمان

And grant them the counsel of trusted men and their rule,

A guarantee through time—what a guarantee!

فما للعصاة الثائرين تخلَّفوا

وكانوا سراع اللفِّ والدوران

Why, then, have the defiant rebels hung back,

Though they were swift at twisting and turning?

جناة العوادي أمس والحدثان

They are angry at heaven's justice, though they themselves

Were the authors of yesterday's afflictions and calamities.

معاذير من خاف الهوان إذا هوت

أراجيفهم أم حجة المتفاني

أراجيفهم أم حجة المتفاني

Are these the excuses of one fearing disgrace at the collapse

Of their false rumors—or the plea of one utterly devoted?

يعيبون ما دبرتموه وإنه

علاج أذاهم في سنين ثمان

علاج أذاهم في سنين ثمان

They fault what you have planned, though it is

A cure for the harm they caused over eight years.

فقم يا علي القوم في القوم شارحاً

نصيبك مما يصنع الأَخَوان

نصيبك مما يصنع الأَخَوان

Then rise among the people, O Ali of the people, and explain

Your share in what the two brothers are doing.

فإن الذين اليوم أنت خطيبهم

فإن الذين اليوم أنت خطيبهم

شهود عيانٍ لا شهود بيان

شهود عيانٍ لا شهود بيان

For those you address today

Are eyewitnesses, not witnesses by report.

قطعت على الواشي المريب طريقه

قطعت على الواشي المريب طريقه

وما كان للواشي سوى الهذيان

وما كان للواشي سوى الهذيان

You have blocked the suspicion-sowing slanderer's path,

And the slanderer had nothing but ravings.

ولم تبق للمفتون في الأمر حيلةً

ولم تبق للمفتون في الأمر حيلةً

ولا أجلاً في الشر للمتفاني

ولا أجلاً في الشر للمتفاني

And you have left the deluded man no stratagem in this affair,

Nor respite in evil for one devoted to it.

وإن مصير الملك رغد وعزة

وإن مصير الملك رغد وعزة

وقد مكَّنت أركانَه الفئتان

وقد مكَّنت أركانَه الفئتان

And surely the realm's future is prosperity and glory,

Now that the two factions have made its pillars firm.
