  1. يا صاحب اللحية الحمراء عابثة

    بها الرياح لقد أشبهت شيطانا

    O you with the red beard, toyed with

    by the winds—you truly resemble a devil.

  2. كأنما فمك المفتوح محتبساً

    فيه اللسان وقد حاولت تبيانا

    It is as though your open mouth—with its trapped

    tongue inside, though you have tried to speak clearly—

  3. مأوىً لأخبث ثعبانٍ تحيط به ال

    نيران فاستوقفتْه فيه حيرانا

    were a lair for the vilest serpent, encircled by

    flames that have halted it there, bewildered.
