يا أورزيل إليك أشكو لوعة

ملء الفؤاد وكربة لا تدفعُ

O Orzil, to you I complain of burning anguish

Filling the heart, and distress that cannot be dispelled.

ألقاك غاضبة عليَّ فأنثني

ويهيجني الشوق الأليم فأطمع

I meet you angry with me, so I turn away;

And painful longing stirs me, so I hope.

إن كنتُ ذا ضعة فإن محبتي

باتت تشرِّفني لديك وترفع

If I am lowly, then my love

Has come to ennoble me in your eyes and raise me high.

أو كنت مني تسخرين فليس لي

عيب سوى أني بحسنك مولع

Or if you mock me, I have

No fault except that I am enamored of your beauty.

أو كان جهري بالغرام جناية

فبغير هذا الوجه لا أستشفع

Or if my open avowal of love is a crime,

Then I seek intercession through no face but this.

يا أورزيل ولست أشكو محنة

إلا إلى هذا الجمال وأضرع

O Orzil, I complain of no affliction

Except to this beauty, and to it I humbly plead.

يا أورزيل أما لتيهك غاية

وإلى متى تترفعين وأخضع

O Orzil, is there no limit to your haughtiness?

And how long will you hold yourself aloof while I submit?

يا واهباً لين الغصون قوامها

هب قلبها ليناً لمن يتوجع

O you who gave her figure the suppleness of boughs,

Grant her heart tenderness toward one who suffers.
