O lady whose beauty is a disguise for harm,
The one with beauty that hides harm
A physician and a craftsman lent it to you.
A doctor and maker lent it to you

You give them both generously from the tormented lover’s wealth,
You give generously from the wealth of meaning to them
As recompense, until all I have gathered is gone.
As a reward until what I gather is lost

Easy now: you have discovered your secret, and they have recoiled—
Gently, for you have realized your secret and bent
Those keen-cutting swords, their edges blunted.
Like those sharp, cutting swords

Behold in my reproacher over you a man brimming with contentment,
Verily, in my abstinence from you I am full of contentment
And many an intercessor has returned to me angry from your presence.
And how often an angry one by you intercedes

You have grown used to the pains of wounds, mending
You are accustomed to the pains of wounds healing
Your body until no part of it flinches.
Your body until what is not in your body is harmful

So the mocking women have not hurt you with their reproaches
So the mockers did not hurt you with their reproach
Against you, nor your enemies’ taunting, stinging though it is.
Upon you and the enemies' hurtful blame

Leave me, and deceive another’s eye and heart;
Leave me be and cover another’s eye and heart
For something in you deceives lovers of appearances.
For in you there is a deceiver of lovers of appearances
