I swear by the glory of his crown and banner,

I swear by the honor of his crown and banner,

And by his army, victorious in its battle,

And by his victorious army in its vigor,

وبعرشه السامي وبأس حسامه

وبعرشه السامي وبأس حسامه

وسداده في حكمه وقضائه

وسداده في حكمه وقضائه

And by his lofty throne and the might of his sword,

And by his lofty throne and the might of his sword,

And by his rectitude in his rule and his judgments,

And his justice in his rule and judgment,

وزمانه وأمانه وحنانه

وزمانه وأمانه وحنانه

فينا وحكمة رأيه ومضائه

فينا وحكمة رأيه ومضائه

And by his era, his security, and his tenderness

And his era, security, and mercy upon us,

Toward us, the wisdom of his judgment, and his resolve,

And the wisdom of his opinion and purpose,

وصلاته وزكاته وصيامه

وصلاته وزكاته وصيامه

ويقينه وأناته وذكائه

ويقينه وأناته وذكائه

And by his prayer, his almsgiving, and his fasting,

And his prayers, alms, and fasting,

And by his certainty, his forbearance, and his intelligence,

And his certainty, composure, and intelligence,

وجياده وعماده وحصونه

وجياده وعماده وحصونه

وسفينه وقلاعه وبنائه

وسفينه وقلاعه وبنائه

And by his steeds, his support, and his strongholds,

And his steeds, pillars, and fortresses,

And by his ships, his fortresses, and his buildings,

And his ships, castles, and buildings,

وخليجه ومضيقه وجباله

وخليجه ومضيقه وجباله

ومجاله وبحاره وعطائه

ومجاله وبحاره وعطائه

And by his gulf, his strait, and his mountains,

And by his domain, his seas, and his bounty,

And his terrain, seas, and generosity,

وذمامه ومرامه وجهاده

وذمامه ومرامه وجهاده

وجلاله وبنيه بل نجبائه

And by his covenant, his aim, and his striving,

He is the chosen Imam by his Lord,

And by his majesty and his sons—nay, his noble ones,

To protect Islam from its enemies,

مشهور قام يموج في أضوائه

And by the auspicious dawn, where the procession,

He took hold of the reins of the world and raised,

Renowned, rose surging amid its lights,

His value in his land and heavens,

وغياضه ورياضه وحياضه

وذماره ومناره وعلائه

And by his thickets, his gardens, and his pools,

And he was called the Supporter of the Faithful, so the

And by his honor, his beacon, and his eminence,

Days and destinies became part of his names,

وقيامه سهران يرعى وحده

أقوامه وغناه عن وزرائه

أقوامه وغناه عن وزرائه

And by his standing wakeful, tending all alone

With the messengers and angels joyful for him,

His peoples, and his independence from his ministers,

And victory and support from his allies,

ودفاعه عنا الخطوب وكشفه

ودفاعه عنا الخطوب وكشفه

ظلم الكروب وعفوه وإبائه

ظلم الكروب وعفوه وإبائه

And by his warding calamities off from us, and dispelling

When he came while the sword hung over the zealous foe,

The darkness of anguish, his pardon, and his proud defiance:

And his sons drowned in bloodshed,

لهو الإمام المجتبى من ربه

لهو الإمام المجتبى من ربه

لحماية الإسلام من أعدائه

لحماية الإسلام من أعدائه

He is indeed the Imam chosen by his Lord

He removed their plight and united them,

To protect Islam from its enemies.

And healed their pain and misery,

ألقى إليه مقالد الدنيا وأع

ألقى إليه مقالد الدنيا وأع

لى قدره في أرضه وسمائه

لى قدره في أرضه وسمائه

He entrusted him with the world's reins and raised

With the power of the Able he overwhelmed the enemies,

His rank on His earth and in His heaven;

No adversary can withstand meeting him,

ودعاه عون المؤمنين فكانت ال

أيام والأقدار من أسمائه

أيام والأقدار من أسمائه

And called him 'Helper of the Faithful'; thus the

So the Great King saved him from harm,

Days and destinies were among his names.

And Islam rejoiced after its weeping,

والرسل والأملاك في بشرائه

والرسل والأملاك في بشرائه

والنصر والتأييد من حلفائه

والنصر والتأييد من حلفائه

And messengers and angels bore glad tidings of him,

And established him, strong and steadfast,

And victory and support were among his allies.

Shining in brilliance after being hidden,

ولقد أتى والسيف في عنق الحمى

ولقد أتى والسيف في عنق الحمى

وبنوه غرقى في عباب دمائه

وبنوه غرقى في عباب دمائه

Indeed, he came while the sword was at the realm's throat,

And returned this harsh, unforgiving era,

And its sons were drowning in the flood of its blood.

To its prosperity and loyalty,

فأقال عثرته وجمَّع شمله

فأقال عثرته وجمَّع شمله

وشفاه من آلامه وشقائه

وشفاه من آلامه وشقائه

So he lifted it from its stumble and reunited its scattered ranks,

And relieved the House of God from what pained it,

And healed it of its pains and misery.

Robing it in the garb of its glory and splendor,

وسطا على الأعداء سطوة قادر

وسطا على الأعداء سطوة قادر

لا يستطيع الخصم هول لقائه

لا يستطيع الخصم هول لقائه

And fell upon the foes with a mighty onslaught,

So his path is safe and blessed,

The foe cannot bear the terror of meeting him.

Guarded by his soldiers and artistry,

فنجا به الملك الكبير من الأذى

فنجا به الملك الكبير من الأذى

وتهلل الإسلام بعد بكائه

وتهلل الإسلام بعد بكائه

Thus through him the great realm escaped harm,

He deserves reward from the Prophet for his stature,

And Islam beamed after its weeping.

And his visitors and residents of his valley,

وأقامه جذلان مشتّد القوى

وأقامه جذلان مشتّد القوى

متبلج الأنوار بعد خفائه

متبلج الأنوار بعد خفائه

And he raised it up joyful, its powers strengthened,

Abdul Hamid, today we recall the beginning of your rule,

Its lights shining forth after its obscurity;

In places congratulated for its permanence,

وأعاد هذا الدهر بعد جماحه ال

قاسي إلى إقباله ووفائه

And brought this age back, after its defiance,

The day the masses saw the mercy of the Creator,

Harsh as it was, to favor and fidelity;

Revealed in the beauty of its space,

وأراح بيت اللّه مما راعه

وأراح بيت اللّه مما راعه

وكساه حلة مجده وبهائه

وكساه حلة مجده وبهائه

And relieved the House of God of what had frightened it,

The day it was distinguished in time, and with it the Sultan

And clothed it in the robe of his glory and splendor.

Was proud over his sons,

فطريقه مأمونة ميمونة

فطريقه مأمونة ميمونة

محروسة بجنوده وسنائه

محروسة بجنوده وسنائه

Thus its road is safe and blessed,

Rather, history preserved it, noting

Guarded by his troops and his radiance.

What spreads in the cosmos of its news,

فله الجزاء من النبي عن المقا

فله الجزاء من النبي عن المقا

م وزائريه وساكني بطحائه

م وزائريه وساكني بطحائه

So may the Prophet reward him on behalf of the station

Celebrate it, the wilderness and its people rejoiced,

And its visitors, and those dwelling in its gravelly valley.

And for it Islam appeared in its vanity,

Abd al-Hamid, today we recall the beginning of your

The earth, its sides fragrant and verdant,

Reign, in lands congratulated on its continuance:

And the horizon in its radiance and clarity,

يوم رأى فيه الرعية رحمة ال

باري تجلت في جميل فضائه

باري تجلت في جميل فضائه

A day when the subjects saw the mercy of the

And the East, its borders smiling, vying

Creator manifest in its lovely expanse;

With the hateful West in its fertility and comfort,

يوم تآبه في الزمان فكان بال

يوم تآبه في الزمان فكان بال

سلطان مفتخراً على أبنائه

سلطان مفتخراً على أبنائه

A day that grew illustrious in time, and through the

And frightening it against tilting its thrones,

Sultan boasted above time's other sons.

And renewing in it what is past of its illnesses,

بل صانه التاريخ معتدّاً بما

بل صانه التاريخ معتدّاً بما

يمتد في الأكوان من أنبائه

يمتد في الأكوان من أنبائه

Nay, history preserved it, taking pride in the

And showing it that its submission and affection,

Tidings of it that spread throughout creation.

Are better for it than its hatred and enmity,

عيد به احتفل البرية واحتفوا

عيد به احتفل البرية واحتفوا

وبدا له الإسلام في خيلائه

وبدا له الإسلام في خيلائه

A festival all creation celebrated and honored,

Stop, enemies of the faith, your hopes,

And Islam appeared for it in all its pride.

Its paths blocked by the mountains of his determination,

فالأرض عاطرة الجوانب نضرة

فالأرض عاطرة الجوانب نضرة

والأفق في إشراقه وصفائه

والأفق في إشراقه وصفائه

So the earth is fragrant on every side and lush,

And be gentle with yourselves, your misguidance,

And the horizon is all radiance and clarity;

Hastening your destruction with his tribulation,

والشرق مبتسم الثغور ينافس ال

والشرق مبتسم الثغور ينافس ال

غرب البغيض بخصبه ورخائه

غرب البغيض بخصبه ورخائه

And the East, with smiling lips, rivals the

And by the sword of the King be guided, for long,

Hateful West with its fertility and prosperity,

The path was illuminated by it for the lost eye,

ويخيفه من أن يميل عروشه

ويخيفه من أن يميل عروشه

ويعيد فيه ما مضى من دائه

ويعيد فيه ما مضى من دائه

And alarms it with the threat of toppling its thrones

My Master, this is a praise poem from a youth,

And bringing back within it its former malady;

Expressing signs of his love and loyalty,

ويريه أن خضوعه ووداده

ويريه أن خضوعه ووداده

أولى له من حقده وعدائه

أولى له من حقده وعدائه

And shows it that its submission and friendship

And seeing life prosperous in your protection,

Are better for it than its rancor and enmity.

Ever green, ensuring the permanence of his bliss,

مهلاً عداة الدين إن رجاءكم

مهلاً عداة الدين إن رجاءكم

سُدَّتْ مسالكه بطود رجائه

سُدَّتْ مسالكه بطود رجائه

Hold, enemies of the faith! Indeed, your hope

A loyalist to you, enamored with you, consumed,

Has had its paths blocked by the mountain of his hope.

With passions aflame in his core,

وترفقوا بنفوسكم فضلالكم

وترفقوا بنفوسكم فضلالكم

ساع إلى تدميركم ببلائه

ساع إلى تدميركم ببلائه

And be gentle with yourselves, for your error

Content with your mention, elated, so the world shook,

Strives to destroy you with its scourge.

Echoing the beauty of his praise,

وبصارم الملك اهتدوا فلطالما

وبصارم الملك اهتدوا فلطالما

وضح السبيل به لعين التائه

وضح السبيل به لعين التائه

And seek guidance in the monarch's keen sword, for often

The path has shone through it before the wanderer's eye.

مولاي هذي مدحة من ناشئٍ

مولاي هذي مدحة من ناشئٍ

يبدي أدلَّة حبه وولائه

يبدي أدلَّة حبه وولائه

My lord, this is praise from a youth,

Who offers proofs of his love and loyalty,

ويرى المعيشة في حماك رغيدة

ويرى المعيشة في حماك رغيدة

خضراء ضامنة دوام هنائه

خضراء ضامنة دوام هنائه

And sees life under your protection as easeful,

Green, assuring his lasting happiness;

متشيع لك مغرم بك هائم

متشيع لك مغرم بك هائم

تتوقد الأشواق في أحشائه

تتوقد الأشواق في أحشائه

Your partisan, enamored of you, lost in love,

Longings blaze in his innermost depths.

غنى بذكرك مطرباً فاهتزت ال

غنى بذكرك مطرباً فاهتزت ال

دنيا مرددةً جميل ثنائه

دنيا مرددةً جميل ثنائه

He sang of you melodiously, and the

World swayed, repeating his beautiful praise.
