A salute to you in private and in public,

and a pledge, O guardians of the people and the homeland.

Glory to what you have willed, and honor

to what you prepare for a fair future.

The hall welcomed the delegations, thronged

with every joyful soul, filling eye and ear.

There every group represents the people,

drawn from public services, aspirations, and professions.

And there sound, weighty opinion is united

by sincere leadership from the faithful and the trusted.

Two days went by for the champions of the cause amid

battles of victory, not chaos or strife.

And the first opportunity came, paving the way

for another in time's heart, whose hour had not yet come.

And roads stretched out for riders, and gentler grew

the raging winds and tempests for the ships.

And he yielded to right—he whose harshness had long weighed

upon the land, which neither submitted nor bent.

The unbowed are content, their valor having worn him down

    amid hardships, misfortunes, and trials.

Perhaps, after the experiences that have gone before,

he will clear the air of his foul current.

O you who come in bands, with hopes fulfilled,

filling the squares, the horizons, and the peaks.

You bore the burden for your peers, and theirs

is the two partners' due in reward and recompense.

And you readied yourselves only for something connected

and joined to the fine work they have done.

And you have no need of vengeance, which is bloodshed,

with peace of mind after grief and sorrow.

And he who hopes for joy with distress to follow

is like one hoping for strength from the seat of weakness.

is like one drinking poison to cure obesity.

I am the one who renders to the Valley its trust—

one of you—to satisfy myself, not for it to reward me.

an idol-worshipper would have been better than I.

In God's keeping are the ways I have set right

for both sides, and the favors I have bestowed.

Who will bring me a peace that reunites them,

like the peace between the Hijazis and Yemen?

So no brother spends the night seeking to harm a brother,

nor does a father spend the night nursing rancor against a son.

And I follow only those who follow me,

and honor only those who honor me.
