Lo, we did not know what you intended,

Alas, we do not know who you are

When you appeared in a display shrouded in concealment.

When you appear cloaked in mystery

فصرّحت بل أخفيت باسم شريفة

فصرّحت بل أخفيت باسم شريفة

وذاك مجال ليس يدركه الحصر

وذاك مجال ليس يدركه الحصر

So you spoke plainly—rather, concealed it—with the name Sharifa,

Then you declare openly or hide discreetly in a noble name

And that is a realm beyond all counting.

That is a realm beyond comprehension's grasp

أقصدك هاتيك التي بأوتلك

أقصدك هاتيك التي بأوتلك

أم أخرى أم المقصود من غيب القبر

أم أخرى أم المقصود من غيب القبر

Do you mean that woman at Awtalk,

Do I mean you here or you there

Or another, or the one whom the grave has hidden?

Or another, or one from the unseen grave?

وإن لربّات الخواتم مهيع

وإن لربّات الخواتم مهيع

ومشتركات الإسم يألفه الشعر

And indeed, there is a broad path for the wearers of rings

The ladies of the rings have confusing similarities
