  1. إذا منعت وصل الحبيب وشاتنا

    وطول الجفا مع أنه من صفاته

    If union with the beloved has been barred by our talebearers,

    And by long estrangement, though it is one of his traits,

  2. فلم يمنعوا تصدير ذهني شخصه

    ولهوي وتأنيسي بصورة ذاته

    They have not barred my mind from bringing his person to the fore,

    Nor my delight and solace in the image of his very self.
