شبابَO youth مُحمّدٍof Muhammad سيرواmarch سِراعاswiftly
شبابَ مُحمّدٍ سيروا سِراعا
ولاand do not تَدَعُواabandon الكِفاحَthe struggle ولاnor القِراعاcombat
ولا تَدَعُوا الكِفاحَ ولا القِراعا
Youth of Muhammad, march—and swiftly!
O youth of Muhammad, march swiftly!
Never forsake the struggle, nor the clash of arms.
And abandon neither struggle nor combat.
رأيتُI saw النّصرَvictory أمراًa thing مُستطاعاattainable
رأيتُ النّصرَ أمراً مُستطاعا
وأُسدُand the lions الغيِلِof the thicket تَأْبَىrefuse أنto تُراعاbe frightened
وأُسدُ الغيِلِ تَأْبَى أن تُراعا
I have seen that victory is attainable.
I saw victory as something attainable.
The lions of the thicket refuse to be daunted.
And the lions of the thicket refuse to be frightened.
خُذواattain الغاياتِthe goals وانْطلقُواand set forth تِباعاone after another
خُذوا الغاياتِ وانْطلقُوا تِباعا
خُذواtake on الأبطالَthe heroes قَرْماًa champion بعدafter قَرْمِa champion
خُذوا الأبطالَ قَرْماً بعد قَرْمِ
Seize your goals and set forth in succession.
Attain the goals and set forth one after another.
Lay hold of the champions, mighty one after mighty one.
Take on the heroes, champion after champion.
وخُوضواand plunge into الحربَwar بالأَهوالِwith terrors تَرْمِيit hurls
وخُوضوا الحربَ بالأَهوالِ تَرْمِي
كَفَىenough ماwhat امْتدَّhas lasted منof دَعَةٍease وسِلْمِand peace
كَفَى ما امْتدَّ من دَعَةٍ وسِلْمِ
Plunge into war as it hurls its terrors.
And plunge into war as it hurls terrors.
Enough of prolonged ease and peace.
Enough of prolonged ease and peace.
كَفَىenough ماwhat اشتدَّhas intensified منof كَرْبٍdistress وهمِّand worry
كَفَى ما اشتدَّ من كَرْبٍ وهمِّ
كَفَىenough ماwhat خَابَhas failed مِنof أَملٍhope وَضَاعاand has been lost
كَفَى ما خَابَ مِن أَملٍ وَضَاعا
Enough of mounting anguish and care.
Enough of mounting distress and worry.
Enough of hopes that failed and came to nothing.
Enough of hope that has failed and been lost.
شبابَO youth مُحمّدٍof Muhammad صُونواguard اللّواءَthe banner
شبابَ مُحمّدٍ صُونوا اللّواءَ
وكونواand be فيin الجهادِjihad لهfor it فِداءَa sacrifice
وكونوا في الجهادِ له فِداءَ
Youth of Muhammad, safeguard the banner.
O youth of Muhammad, guard the banner!
And in jihad, be its willing sacrifice.
And in jihad sacrifice yourselves for it.
أَمْنَdoes one who يَتقلّدُwears السُّوَرَthe Quranic chapters الوِضاءَradiant
أَمْنَ يَتقلّدُ السُّوَرَ الوِضاءَ
يَخافُfears الرَّوْعَterror أوor يَخْشَىdreads اللّقاءَthe encounter
يَخافُ الرَّوْعَ أو يَخْشَى اللّقاءَ
Can one who bears the radiant surahs
Does one who wears the radiant surahs
fear terror, or dread the encounter?
Fear terror or dread the encounter?
دِفاعاًdefense عنof محارمكمyour sanctities دِفاعاdefense
دِفاعاً عن محارمكم دِفاعا
أقيمواuphold الدّينَreligion والدُّنياand worldly life جميعاtogether
أقيموا الدّينَ والدُّنيا جميعا
Defend your sacred things—defend them!
Defend what you hold sacred—defend it!
Uphold religion and worldly life together.
Uphold religion and worldly life together.
وَقُومواand rise فاجْمعواthen reunite الشَّملَthe fellowship الصَّديعاfractured
وَقُوموا فاجْمعوا الشَّملَ الصَّديعا
هلمّواcome فاطلبواthen seek الشّأنَstanding الرّفيعاlofty
هلمّوا فاطلبوا الشّأنَ الرّفيعا
Rise, and gather the unity split asunder.
And rise, then reunite the fractured fellowship.
Come—seek the exalted station.
Come, then seek lofty standing.
أيْجمُلُis it fitting أنthat نَذِلَّwe be abased وأنand that نَضِيعاwe be lost
أيْجمُلُ أن نَذِلَّ وأن نَضِيعا
ونُطعِمَand feed لَحمناour flesh القومَthe people الجِياعاhungry
ونُطعِمَ لَحمنا القومَ الجِياعا
Is it fitting that we be humbled and lost,
Is it fitting that we be abased and lost,
and feed our flesh to the hungry peoples?
And feed our flesh to the hungry people?
لَناwe have مِنfrom دِينناour religion سَبَبٌa bond مَتينُstrong
لَنا مِن دِيننا سَبَبٌ مَتينُ
ومِنand from إِيمانthe faith أَنفُسِناof our souls مُعينُa helper
ومِن إِيمان أَنفُسِنا مُعينُ
In our religion we have a firm bond,
From our religion we have a firm bond,
and in our own faith, a source of aid.
And from our souls' faith, a source of aid.
لناwe have منfrom ربّناour Lord فتحٌa victory مُبينُmanifest
لنا من ربّنا فتحٌ مُبينُ
ونصرٌand a victory يَستطيرُflies far and wide لهfor it رَنينُa ringing sound
ونصرٌ يَستطيرُ له رَنينُ
From our Lord we have manifest victory,
From our Lord we have a manifest victory,
and a triumph whose ringing flies afar.
And a victory whose ringing flies far and wide,
يَهُزُّit shakes الأرضَthe earth أوor يطوِيit folds up البِقاعاthe lands
يَهُزُّ الأرضَ أو يطوِي البِقاعا
بَنِيO children الدُّنياof the world سَلواask التاريخَhistory عنّاabout us
بَنِي الدُّنيا سَلوا التاريخَ عنّا
It shakes the earth or sweeps across the lands.
Shaking the earth or folding up the lands.
Children of the world, ask history about us.
O children of the world, ask history about us.
أَلَسْناare we not أرفعَthe highest الأقوامِof peoples شأناin standing
أَلَسْنا أرفعَ الأقوامِ شأنا
رسولُthe Messenger اللهِof God والخُلفاءُand the caliphs مِنّاfrom among us
رسولُ اللهِ والخُلفاءُ مِنّا
Are we not the foremost of peoples in stature?
Are we not the highest of peoples in standing?
God’s Messenger and the caliphs are from among us.
The Messenger of God and the caliphs are from among us.
بَنَوْاthey built لِلخُلدِfor eternity ماwhat شاءواthey wished وشِئناand we wished
بَنَوْا لِلخُلدِ ما شاءوا وشِئنا
فَهُمْso they فيat الذُّروةthe summit العُلياhighest ارتفاعاin elevation
فَهُمْ في الذُّروة العُليا ارتفاعا
They built for immortality what they wished—and what we wished.
They built for eternity what they and we wished.
Thus they stand rising upon the highest summit.
So they stand exalted at the highest summit.
