The slanderers lied, and the faultfinders were wrong.

You are keepers of a covenant, and we are noble.

A love whose pledges events renew,

And whose sanctity the days increase.

And behold, those cords were like ties of kinship.

And caliph after caliph abided by it,

And after him, a just imam, then another.

Extend your hearts in a handshake at a gathering

To which the Cross and Islam have devoted themselves.

Jesus and Ahmad, and all the imams,

    Stand there among the disciples.

Is that which is built upon brotherhood.

Religion belongs to God Most High; but

Life's creed is only mutual affection and harmony.

If the divisive slanderer has a purpose,

Then we too have a purpose and a goal.

And live in chaos while life is order?

For Egypt, through all her changing fortunes, we are

    Her faithful sons and servants.

We guard her domain while calamities raid,

And protect her though adversities are grave.

And from our lifeblood we cut a banner for her,

Beneath which banners are furled and unfurled.

If high resolve raises nations, then we

Are a resolute people to whom hardships submit.

O Egypt, arise among the kingdoms and work!

Slumber has gone, and dreams have departed.
