    فأينَ يَضيع كنزُ بني النَّضيرِ

    The people's doom lies in the camel's hide;

Where, then, could the treasure of Banu al-Nadir be lost?

The matter's outcome lies in the raising and lowering

Of this earth amid the great event.

Thus spoke the greatest liar among them,

And the most ignorant of the consequences of affairs.

    They made deception their path,

And were people of slander and falsehood.

They were not truthful with the Prophet, nor did they cherish

Anything but greed that brings disappointment, and delusion.

And the treasure they buried was nothing but

A harbinger of woe and ruin, every bit of it.

Their wayward ones say, "Nothing remains,"

The speech of those given to folly and wickedness.

Then, when torment touched their companion,

The evil hidden in their breasts appeared.

And their treasure was brought forth as a ready inheritance

For the heirs of kingdoms and ages.

Even had they denied it, death would have come,

Sounding its call in necks and throats.

So they perished where they fell, and became

Like Tasm or like ‘Ad in extinction.

And time's ravages have never ceased to sweep

Over those given to sin and evil.

A day awaits them, in al-Faruq's keeping,

That will greet them with far-spreading harm.

So be patient: it will surely come,

For the Jews of Khaybar have no protector.
