    وَاذْكُرْ لها الصُّنعَ بعد الصّنعِ يَبْتَدِرُ

    Salute al-Kinana, and see how she remembers;

    and recall her deeds, one after another, rushing forth.

    يمشي الشّبابُ بها حَرَّانَ يَستعرُ

    The fluttering flags hastened to shade her;

    the young march through her, ardent and aflame.

    They march toward glory: its landmarks have not vanished,

    nor have its radiant path and its traces faded.

    For whoever has a passion for glory and seeks it,

    the paths are wide, and the light is spread abroad.

    We shall surely guard the forefathers' legacy, so

    the bones do not lament, nor the graves cry out for help.

    أجِنَّةً في ثنايا الغيبِ تَنتظِرُ

    Tell the young: remember him who kept you in mind,

    when you were embryos waiting in the folds of the unseen;

    عِندَ الفداءِ ولا يأبَى فيعتذرُ

    the giver of his life, who knows no fear and does not withhold it

    at sacrifice, nor does he refuse and offer excuses;

    and the man of true valor, who guards the two valleys when

    the protectors turn away and the zealous defenders sleep.

    Do not deny what we witnessed before your birth:

    indeed, he called you, and your forms answered.

    Had he yielded to the usurping aggressor, he would have bequeathed you

    a life of humiliation, with neither honor nor standing—

    he who fought despair until it retreated, driven back by

    a victorious army of intrepid hope.
