يا مُنذِرَ السوءِ غُضَّ الصَوتَ إِنَّ لَنا

يا مُنذِرَ السوءِ غُضَّ الصَوتَ إِنَّ لَنا

رَبّاً يَرُدُّ الأَذى عَنّا وَيَحيمنا

رَبّاً يَرُدُّ الأَذى عَنّا وَيَحيمنا

O herald of evil, lower your voice; indeed, we have

O you who warn of ill, hush your voice, for we

a Lord who wards harm away from us and protects us.

Have a Lord who protects us from harm and shelters us.

إِنّا لَجَأنا إِلَيهِ نَستَعينُ بِهِ

إِنّا لَجَأنا إِلَيهِ نَستَعينُ بِهِ

عَلى الحَوادِثِ إِذ قامَت تُناوينا

عَلى الحَوادِثِ إِذ قامَت تُناوينا

Indeed, we have taken refuge in Him, seeking His help

We have taken refuge in Him, seeking help from Him

against calamities when they arose to oppose us.

Against misfortunes, when they beset and debilitate us.

نَرجو مَراحِمَهُ في كُلِّ كارِثَةٍ

نَرجو مَراحِمَهُ في كُلِّ كارِثَةٍ

تَهُدُّ مِنّا القُوى هَدّاً وَتُعيينا

تَهُدُّ مِنّا القُوى هَدّاً وَتُعيينا

We hope for His mercies in every calamity

We hope for His mercy in every disaster

that utterly shatters our strength and exhausts us.

That makes our strength collapse and enfeebles us.

يا مُنذِرَ السوءِ لا تُحدِث لَنا فَزَعاً

يا مُنذِرَ السوءِ لا تُحدِث لَنا فَزَعاً

يا مُنذِرَ السوءِ إِنَّ اللَهَ يَكفينا

يا مُنذِرَ السوءِ إِنَّ اللَهَ يَكفينا

O herald of evil, do not cause us terror.

O you who warn of ill, do not cause us alarm,

O herald of evil, indeed, God is sufficient for us.

O you who warn of ill, God suffices us,

وَكَيفَ نَخشى مِنَ الأَحداثِ غائِلَةً

وَكَيفَ نَخشى مِنَ الأَحداثِ غائِلَةً

وَمُحكَمُ الذِكرِ يُتلى بَينَ أَيدينا

وَمُحكَمُ الذِكرِ يُتلى بَينَ أَيدينا

And how can we fear harm from misfortunes,

How can we fear fateful events

while the firmly established Revelation is recited before us?

When the holy book is recited before us?

هُوَ السَبيلُ الَّذي تُرجى النَجاةُ بِهِ

هُوَ السَبيلُ الَّذي تُرجى النَجاةُ بِهِ

فَليَهدَإِ القَومُ إِنَّ اللَهَ مُنجينا

فَليَهدَإِ القَومُ إِنَّ اللَهَ مُنجينا

It is the path through which deliverance is hoped for.

It is the path by which salvation is hoped for,

So let the people be calm; indeed, God is our deliverer.

So let the people be calm, God will deliver us.
