إِنَّي نَظَرتُ إِلى الحَوادِثِ نَظرَةً

إِنَّي نَظَرتُ إِلى الحَوادِثِ نَظرَةً

كَشَفَت حَقائِقَها لِعَينِ المُبصِرِ

كَشَفَت حَقائِقَها لِعَينِ المُبصِرِ

Indeed, I cast a gaze upon events

I looked upon events with a glance

that revealed their truths to the discerning eye.

That unveiled their realities to the seeing eye.

وَضَحُ اليَقينُ لِذي التَظَنُّنِ جَهرَةً

وَضَحُ اليَقينُ لِذي التَظَنُّنِ جَهرَةً

وَبَدا سَبيلُ الحائِرِ المُتَعَثِّرِ

وَبَدا سَبيلُ الحائِرِ المُتَعَثِّرِ

Certainty stood openly revealed to the doubter,

Certainty became clear to the doubtful one openly,

and the path appeared for the bewildered, stumbling one.

And the way of the confused, stumbling one was evident.

هِيَ فِتنَةٌ عَمياءُ وَيحَكَ فَاِحتَرِس

هِيَ فِتنَةٌ عَمياءُ وَيحَكَ فَاِحتَرِس

وَبِلِيَّةٌ حَمَقى لَعَمرُكَ فَاِحذَرِ

وَبِلِيَّةٌ حَمَقى لَعَمرُكَ فَاِحذَرِ

It is a blind turmoil—alas for you, so be on guard—

It is a blind strife, so beware,

and a senseless affliction—by your life, so beware.

It is foolish havoc, by your life, so take heed.

لا تَذهَبَنّ مَعَ العَواصِفِ وَاِجتَنِب

لا تَذهَبَنّ مَعَ العَواصِفِ وَاِجتَنِب

هَبَواتِ هَذا الحادِثِ المُتَنَمِّرِ

هَبَواتِ هَذا الحادِثِ المُتَنَمِّرِ

Never go along with the tempests, and shun

Do not go along with the storms, and avoid

the dust clouds of this tiger-like calamity.

The commotions of this defiant incident.

اجمَع لَهُ تَقوى الإِلَهِ فِإِنَّها

اجمَع لَهُ تَقوى الإِلَهِ فِإِنَّها

أَمنُ المَروعِ وَنَجدَةُ المُستَنصِرِ

أَمنُ المَروعِ وَنَجدَةُ المُستَنصِرِ

Muster against it the fear of God, for indeed it is

Gather for it the piety of God, for it

safety for the terrified and succor for whoever seeks help.

Is the safety of the frightened and the aid of the seeker of help.

إِنّي حَلَلتُ مِنَ الإِلَهِ مَحَلَّةً

إِنّي حَلَلتُ مِنَ الإِلَهِ مَحَلَّةً

تلوي بِيَأسِ الظالِمِ المُتَجَبِّرِ

تلوي بِيَأسِ الظالِمِ المُتَجَبِّرِ

Indeed, I have taken up an abode with God

I have taken from God a position

that leaves the tyrannical oppressor writhing in despair.

That will twist the despair of the unjust tyrant.

رَبِّ اِتَّخِذني مِن عِبادِكَ إِنَّهُم

رَبِّ اِتَّخِذني مِن عِبادِكَ إِنَّهُم

عَزّوا بِنَصرٍ مِن لَدُنكَ مُؤَزَّرِ

عَزّوا بِنَصرٍ مِن لَدُنكَ مُؤَزَّرِ

My Lord, make me one of Your servants, for indeed they

My Lord, make me among Your servants, for they

have grown mighty through a resounding victory from You.
